SCRIPT

We started today’s edition of the Indiere Radio Show with a joint song by the frontmen of the former Anti Fitness Klub and «Jetlag» bands. The song was recently released and the authors designed it as a spring song – we hope there will be a sequel for summer! Next up is the band «Fiúk – Boys», who describe themselves as an «underground POP» band. They were formed in 2018 and have been surprising us with interesting music ever since. Here’s a fresh song from them right now, this is «Albérlet».

We’ve already featured EZ Basic on a previous Indiere Radio Show, when we expected that they just released only a single. But to our surprise, the single has been extended to a full-length album, so here’s a chance to show you two more songs from the guys. The band is described as indie-rock sounding. Interestingly, they were one of the most influential bands in Budapest’s alternative music scene in the early 2000s. Here we have Strained Love and Hurt You? from them.

A few days ago the new album of the band Galaxisok was released. They are now also returning artists on the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show. Now we have their song «Lion» and then we catch them for a short interview.

This is still the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show, where we present two tracks from the latest album of Galaxisok – but now we listen to a mini-interview with Benedek Szabó, the band’s frontman, who we asked about the message of the album, as the lyrics openly criticise the current Hungarian political system, but in a special way.

It was a conscious step, also that the music was born in this form. On the one hand because I usually write music like that, and on the other hand because I’m not a punk, and it would be very strange for me to suddenly write a very aggressive piece of music in line with the anger of the lyrics – I don’t think it would have worked. But what I came up with was to write the lyrics in a way that would still be punk in spirit, which doesn’t hide its anti-establishment or anti-government, but I’d put it all in a package that’s not really balladic, but rather melodic, maybe a little bit hit. I think that is one of the best ways of getting the message across. The music is written in a style that can be hummed by someone who doesn’t care what the songs are about – so that was the concept with the album, to make it listenable, melodic, but the lyrics are not at all cryptically angry.

Here’s a song from the album called «Örökre elég volt ebből – Enough of This Forever».

Carson Coma is planning to release its fifth LP. One of the songs on the album has already been released, Frida Kahlo, co-produced with Beton.Hofi. In the song, which has a really impressive clip, the guys smoke the Hungarian mainstream through the personas of the famous Mexican painter and her husband. A strong start, looking forward to the full album!

The egy5egy band will introduce themselves in the next few minutes. The band was actually formed from a group of friends who were constantly searching for themselves, but were sure that they really loved playing music together. Now they are preparing a concert in the form of a two-act theatre play, for which they have also remixed their existing songs. They also released a new album a few days ago, here comes the song «oh how beautiful» from that.

Honestly, I would never have expected that someone would be inspired to write a song about the M7 motorway connecting Budapest with Croatia, but we love interesting ideas, and of course we welcome our colleagues from Radio Student in Zagreb! The song is performed by the band Duckshell, a world music band formed in Budapest in 2017. In their music, Balkan and Brazilian musical influences meet different styles like ska, punk and hip-hop. The band also features Ádám Pettik, who is a master of percussion instruments, especially the Kanna – a simple vessel for liquids, but which has become a rhythm instrument in Hungarian gypsy music. This duo was joined by Esra – so here’s M7 from them!

We continue the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show with another interesting piece of music. We just welcomed our Croatian friends, and it’s a lucky accident that with the next song we can say hello to Spain! Because a Hungarian world music band, Bohemian Betyars, has collaborated with a Spanish band called La Pegatina and they have a song for us. This song is called Quatre Grapes “kettr grép” – hope I said it right.

Anahit is constantly experimenting with genres. This time they have come up with a new music, which shows some electronic music influences, but it is also dominated by rap and has some Hungarian folk music elements. Their latest release is coming in the next few minutes and it’s called wolf.

If we’ve already turned a bit in the direction of rap, we can’t miss Beton.Hofi’s new album. The album also features many up-and-coming underground artists as contributors. Here’s a song by Beton.Hofi, Hundred Sins, laurie. and Dom Beats: Tomorrow the clocks will stop

Next up is Ajsa Luna, who has also collaborated with Beton Hofi on several occasions. She has now teamed up with Beatrick and the two of them released a joint track called «Masculin» a few weeks ago – coming up on the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show.

As the show comes to a end, we also take a short trip to some special tunes. Indigo and Dan Pinto have released a track called «Desert», which takes the show a little bit downtempo.

At the end of the show we had a special electro-folk music from Deva. The song is called Never. Deva- Dorina Takács writes and performs electronic music inspired by folk songs, and won the European Union’s Music Moves Europe award in 2022. She continues to produce her songs in her home studio, and we think they sound pretty good.

In the last hour, you have been listening to the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show, produced by Civil Radio. The shows are broadcasted in Spain, Austria, Germany, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Ireland and Hungary by many many community radios. Now Dániel Kemény and Ákos Cserháti say goodbye. Follow Indiere – week by week on your favourite community radio stations. Next week you can listen to Radio Helsinki’s broadcast from Graz. That’s all from Hungary for now, we hope to see you next time again, a viszonthallásra!

FEATURED SONG #110

TITLE:

INDR FEATURED SONG #110: Mörk, Dom Beats – Towards The Sun

TEXT FROM THE FEATURED SONG (SAME AS THE JINGLE TEXT):
Coming up, the featured song from Hungary. This is the latest joint song from Mörk and Dom Beats, about the importance and fragility of friendship and human relationships. The song is called Towards The Sun.

TEXT:
This song debuted back in February and is about the importance and fragile nature of friendship and human relationships. The lyrics integrate light and darkness in a hopeful way. Toward The Sun was born after a particularly difficult time. The band said: «We had to respect our individual realities while recognizing our common ground with understanding and compassion. Love for each other and the music we create together is what really brings us together. Our shared vision is that we can uplift others through our artistic fulfillment. We would like this to be a vibrant yet thought-provoking ode to «our tribe», which can be narrowly understood as our orchestra, any of our families and friends, or more broadly as an entire country, humanity, or even more widely…»
